In Berlin, the Left Party together with the SPD and the Greens presented an exploratory paper that, according to the commentator sharing it, foresees more irregular migration and less spending on the Bundeswehr. The author draws a link between these positions and unrest in France, framing the paper as sending the wrong signals. The characterisation comes from a critical commentator rather than confirmed reporting.

Why now: Political commentators are debating a new coalition exploratory paper's stance on migration and defence spending.
