Foodwatch fights EU plans to ban terms like 'tofu sausage'

Consumer group Foodwatch is campaigning against proposed EU rules that would ban plant-based products from using meat-related names such as 'tofu sausage'. Critics call the idea absurd, comparing it to banning the term 'beef tomato', and the organisation has launched an online petition urging people to sign against the measure. Supporters argue the restrictions would confuse consumers and hurt alternatives to meat rather than help them.

Why now: Debate over EU restrictions on meat-related naming for plant-based foods has prompted Foodwatch to launch a petition against it
