First Lutheran Church marks 175 years with smaller but active congregation
Original: Smaller but ‘very alive,’ First Lutheran Church turns 175
First Lutheran Church is celebrating its 175th anniversary. Local coverage describes the congregation as smaller than in its heyday but, in its own words, still 'very alive.' Members and clergy are reflecting on the church's long history in the community while looking to sustain its worship life and outreach with a reduced but committed membership.
Why now: The congregation's milestone anniversary is a notable local bicentennial-style story for the community it has served since the 1800s.
