UK to adopt IHRA antisemitism measures in schools

The UK government has said it will implement measures to combat antisemitism in schools using the IHRA working definition of antisemitism. Critics argue the definition is being used to label criticism of Israel as antisemitic, a long-standing controversy. Supporters say the definition gives schools clear guidance for tackling Jewish hate, while free-speech advocates warn it could chill legitimate political debate about Israel and Palestine.
Why now: The policy is controversial because the IHRA definition is widely debated for potentially conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism.
