Questions Raised Over Migrant Rescue in Equatorial Guinea
Original: A Rescue in Equatorial Guinea, or Another Immigrant Expulsion?
A report by The American Prospect questions whether an incident presented as a rescue operation in Equatorial Guinea was in fact another expulsion of immigrants. The piece probes the fate of migrants involved and whether authorities used rescue language to cover forced removals, drawing attention to migration enforcement practices in the Central African country.
Why now: New reporting is scrutinising whether Equatorial Guinea's actions toward migrants amounted to expulsion disguised as rescue.
