Coverage circulating of the Azov Brigade marking the Day of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), observed on October 1, against the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The commemoration is drawing attention because the UPA and Azov both carry contested historical and political symbolism, with supporters framing it as patriotic remembrance and critics pointing to controversial wartime legacies tied to both.

Why now: The UPA holiday annually sparks debate over Second World War historical memory, now intensified by the Azov Brigade's wartime prominence.
