Ukraine anti-corruption police search central bank

Original: Ukraine's anti-corruption police search central bank, governor says no link to bank activity

Ukraine's anti-corruption police have searched the central bank in Kyiv, with governor Andriy Pyshnyy saying the raid has no connection to the bank's activity. The search comes as Ukraine continues efforts to tackle corruption, a key condition for continued Western financial and political support during the war with Russia. Authorities have not disclosed the specific focus of the investigation, and no charges have been announced.

Why now: Concerns over corruption in Ukraine are sensitive given its dependence on Western aid and its EU membership bid.
