Signal chats on Android with Google apps may not be private

Original: Posting here because I need the character space... If your # Android device is running # Google apps, your # Signal chat

A user reports that a conversation topic discussed privately in a Signal chat on an Android device later appeared in targeted advertising on YouTube, suggesting the chat content was not as private as expected. They warn that Android devices running Google apps may expose Signal conversations, and others are debating how apps on the same device can infer and monetise private messaging data.

Why now: The claim that a supposedly private Signal chat surfaced in targeted ads touches widespread concerns about surveillance and data privacy on Google-powered Android phones.
