Rioting does not deter big-ticket sales at Art Basel Paris
Art Basel Paris has gone ahead with strong results despite unrest in France, with galleries reporting major sales. Dealers said collectors were undeterred by the rioting, and the fair continued to attract significant purchases, underscoring the resilience of the high-end art market even during a period of civil disturbance in Paris.
Why now: The contrast between violent unrest in France and record-setting art sales at the fair is drawing attention.
