Mayor Jones urges Pentagon and DHS to rethink enforcement against military spouses
Original: Mayor Jones urges Pentagon, DHS to rethink enforcement against military spouses
Mayor Jones has publicly called on the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security to reconsider enforcement actions targeting military spouses. The appeal, reported by WOAI, asks the federal agencies to weigh the impact of their policies on families of service members. Details of the specific enforcement measures and the mayor's jurisdiction have not been disclosed, and reaction from the agencies named has not yet been reported.
Why now: A local mayor directly challenging two federal agencies over their treatment of military families is an unusual and politically charged confrontation.
