City diplomacy framed as bridge amid global challenges
Original: City diplomacy seen as bridge amid global challenges
China Daily is highlighting city diplomacy as a way to build cooperation and trust between countries at a time of global tension. The report argues that direct ties between cities — through trade, culture and exchanges — can help bridge divides that national-level diplomacy struggles to close. Commentators view the framing as part of China's push to present subnational links as a stabilising force in international relations.
Why now: Growing interest in how local and city-level international ties can ease global tensions.
