Virtual screenings of F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent classic Nosferatu are being held online, each accompanied by live comedic commentary and prefaced by a short introductory talk titled "Nosfer-achoo!: How Pandemics Shaped the Modern Vampire." Screenings are scheduled for the weekend, and the pandemic-themed lecture angle is drawing attention as a playful way to revisit the vampire film's origins in plague imagery.
Why now: The unusual combination of live comedy commentary and a pandemic-themed lecture on a century-old vampire film is a timely, shareable pop-culture event.
