French unions call nationwide strike for 5 November
Original: greve 5 novembre
French trade unions are mobilising a strike and demonstrations on 5 November. The CGT is calling to generalise the stoppage, saying the government's response from Matignon is 'not up to the task', while local actions are also planned, including a protest in Argentan where organisers describe anger as immense.
Why now: A major nationwide strike date is approaching and union-federal government tensions over the response are escalating.
