Driver's police chase thwarted by George Washington Bridge traffic
Original: gwb traffic
Police say a driver attempted to flee from officers but ran into heavy congestion on the George Washington Bridge, which blocked his escape and led to his capture. The bridge, one of the busiest crossings in the New York area, became an unintended roadblock in the pursuit. The unusual role of everyday traffic in ending the chase is drawing attention.
Why now: The irony of notorious GWB gridlock foiling a police pursuit is making the story widely shared.
