Volkswagen de Mexico and union strike deal, averting walkout
Original: Volkswagen de Mexico and union reach early deal, avert strike
Volkswagen de Mexico and its union have reached an early agreement on their labor contract, averting a planned strike at the company's Mexican operations. The deal, confirmed by Reuters, means production at the automaker's plants continues without disruption. Early settlements between major automakers and unions are closely watched in Mexico, where the auto industry is a key source of jobs and exports.
Why now: The settlement prevents a strike that could have disrupted production at one of Mexico's major auto plants.
