Zelensky says Putin will not risk using nuclear weapons
Original: Putin will not risk using nuclear weapons because he would lose allies – Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Vladimir Putin will not use nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine because doing so would cost Russia the support of its allies. Zelensky argued that Moscow values its international partnerships, particularly with countries like China, and that the diplomatic fallout from a nuclear strike would outweigh any battlefield gain. His comments come amid continued discussion of nuclear threats in the conflict.
Why now: Ongoing fears about nuclear escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war keep statements on Putin's nuclear intentions newsworthy.
