Austin airport braces for surge as F1, football and NBA collide
Original: Austin airport braces for influx of travelers as F1, college football and NBA collide
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is preparing for a major wave of travelers as three big events land in the Texas capital at the same time: the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix, college football games, and NBA action. Officials expect crowded terminals and heavy ground traffic as fans arrive for a rare weekend when motorsport, college sports and professional basketball all overlap in the city.
Why now: The unusual same-weekend overlap of F1, college football and NBA events in Austin is expected to strain airport capacity.
