Ex-diplomat: EU wrong to think China caving to pressure
Original: EU’s idea that China is caving to pressure is ‘serious misjudgment’: ex-diplomat
A former diplomat has criticised the European Union's view that China is yielding under economic and political pressure, calling it a 'serious misjudgment'. The warning suggests Brussels may be overestimating the effect of its trade restrictions and tougher stance toward Beijing, and could misread China's resolve in the ongoing friction between the two economies.
Why now: Ongoing EU-China trade and political tensions have sparked debate over whether pressure tactics are actually working on Beijing.
