Developers Clash Over 'Vibe Coding' and AI-Driven Software Development
Original: Developers Debate Vibe Coding and AI's Role in Software Creation
Programmers are arguing about 'vibe coding', the practice of building software by prompting AI tools rather than writing code by hand. Supporters say it lets anyone create working software quickly, while critics warn it produces unmaintainable, insecure code and undermines engineering discipline. The debate is raging across developer communities as AI coding assistants become mainstream in professional work.
Why now: AI coding tools are spreading fast, forcing developers to decide whether prompt-driven programming is a legitimate practice or a risk to software quality.
