Sports equinox: when MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL all play
Original: What is a sports equinox? Here's when MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL will come together
A 'sports equinox' is the rare day when all four major North American professional leagues — MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL — play regular-season or postseason games on the same date. Outlets are explaining the phenomenon and telling fans when the next one will occur, as overlapping schedules are uncommon once baseball's season ends and the NBA and NHL seasons are underway alongside football.
Why now: Upcoming schedules for the four major US leagues are set to overlap, giving fans a rare single-day showcase of all four sports.
