Farage plays down Trump friendship in Britain, plays it up to MAGA
Original: Farage plays down his Trump friendship in Britain — and talks it up to MAGA https://www.politico.eu/article/nigel-farage
Nigel Farage is being accused of tailoring his story about his friendship with Donald Trump depending on the audience, according to Politico. In Britain he reportedly downplays the relationship, while among Trump's MAGA base he emphasises it. The double messaging is drawing attention as Farage's Reform UK rises in British polls and Trump returns to the centre of US politics, raising questions about how close the two men really are.
Why now: Farage's shifting rhetoric about Trump is seen as politically revealing as Reform UK gains ground in Britain and Trump dominates US politics.
