Google has cleared roughly 300 hectares of forest in Finland to make way for a data center, according to a TechSpot report. The scale of the land clearing has drawn criticism from environmental observers, who question the ecological cost of expanding data center infrastructure, and it is being debated on forums where users weigh the environmental trade-offs of cloud computing growth.
Why now: People are reacting to the environmental impact of large tech companies building data centers on formerly forested land.
