Jewish Educators Say Italy Trip Fell Through Over Gaza Questions
Original: I Was Supposed to Go to Italy With Fellow Jewish Educators. Then Reggio Emilia Pressed Us on Gaza.
A group of Jewish educators invited to Reggio Emilia, Italy, said the trip was upended after local organisers pressed them on Gaza. The account, published in the Algemeiner, describes the educators withdrawing after being asked to address the war. The episode has drawn attention to how Gaza-related politics are testing partnerships between Jewish and Italian educational communities.
Why now: The Gaza war continues to strain international educational and cultural exchanges, and this first-person account of a cancelled trip is resonating with readers on both sides.
