Iceye and Nokia to build sovereign satellite communications for Ukraine
Original: Iceye and Nokia partner with Ukraine to develop satcom capability
Finnish radar satellite operator Iceye and telecoms firm Nokia have agreed to work with Ukraine's Ministry of Defence to develop sovereign satellite communications capability. The partnership aims to give Ukraine independent satcom infrastructure at a time when its military communications remain under pressure from Russian jamming and attacks on terrestrial networks.
Why now: The war has made secure, sovereign communications a strategic priority for Ukraine, and the involvement of two major Nordic tech firms makes the deal notable.
