Adhikari claims support of 275 MLAs in West Bengal Assembly
Original: “Will get support of 275 MLAs in 294 member Assembly.” - West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari
Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, has claimed he will secure the support of 275 MLAs in the 294-member state Assembly. The statement, presented with the title of Chief Minister, is being shared widely in Indian political circles and is drawing attention ahead of the state's political contests, though no supporting numbers have been independently verified.
Why now: A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader making a dramatic claim about commanding a large majority in the West Bengal Assembly fuels speculation about shifting political allegiances.
