Pension concerns drive IMSS protests across Mexico
Original: jubilación
Retirement and pension issues are in the spotlight in Mexico. Workers at the IMSS, the country's social security institute, marched in Mexico City and other cities on October 22 to protest over conditions, with streets closed along the demonstration route. Meanwhile, specialists are debating why young people show little engagement with pension systems, citing a lack of interest or unfavorable conditions.
Why now: IMSS workers' protests and ongoing debate over pension conditions have put retirement policy back in the national conversation.
