Trump says Sundar Pichai talked him out of renaming the Atlantic Ocean
Donald Trump says Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai persuaded him not to rename the Atlantic Ocean. Trump made the claim while discussing renaming decisions, suggesting a conversation with the Google executive changed his mind on the idea. The remark has drawn attention for the unusual pairing of a US president and a tech CEO weighing in on what to call one of the world's oceans.
Why now: The bizarre idea of renaming an entire ocean, and a tech CEO's supposed role in stopping it, is striking and widely shared.
