UN Highlights Mexico's Missing Persons Crisis
Original: LET US NOT FORGET | The UN highlights the crisis of missing persons in Mexico, and the government...
The United Nations is drawing attention to the crisis of missing persons in Mexico, urging the government not to forget the tens of thousands of disappeared. The call puts pressure on Mexican authorities to strengthen searches, investigations and support for victims' families, as the country continues to register one of the world's highest numbers of unresolved disappearances.
Why now: The UN's renewed warnings and criticism of the government's handling of disappearances have put the issue back in the spotlight.
