Film about Giulia Cecchettin premieres at Rome Film Festival
Original: giulia cecchettin
A film about Giulia Cecchettin, the young woman murdered in 2023 in a case that shocked Italy and sparked a national debate on femicide, is having its premiere at the Rome Film Festival. Directors Paola Randi and Filippo Timi spoke about making 'noise' against gender violence, and actor Tommaso Allione, who plays her brother Gino, said the role revealed the weight of the issue. The red carpet marked the event with 'a minute of noise'.
Why now: The premiere of the film about her killing is drawing attention to the case and Italy's ongoing debate on violence against women.
