Remembrance Day poppy campaigns begin across Canada and UK
Original: remembrance day
Remembrance Day commemorations are underway as annual poppy campaigns launch. In Canada, Legions including Callander, Ontario, have started their 2026 campaigns, and the first poppy was presented to British Columbia's lieutenant governor. In the UK, attention is on a veteran refused entry to a Wetherspoons pub for wearing a poppy deemed 'too political', sparking criticism.
Why now: The annual poppy campaign launch and a controversy over a veteran being barred for wearing a poppy are drawing attention ahead of Remembrance Day.
