Piyush Goyal tells Europe it caused climate crisis
Original: Piyush Goyal's Reality Check to Europe Over Climate Crisis on Int'l Stage, Says 'You Caused...'
India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal delivered a blunt message on the international stage, telling Europe that it bears responsibility for causing the climate crisis. He argued that developed nations industrialised first and emitted the bulk of historical greenhouse gases, while demanding climate action from developing countries. The remarks were circulated widely by Indian news outlets, drawing attention to India's stance in global climate negotiations.
Why now: India is pressing its case that wealthy nations owe greater climate responsibility, a message that resonates as climate diplomacy intensifies.
