Kyrie Irving has offered to pay the fine the NFL imposed on Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. The offer is being shared in circles sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, as Al-Shaair has been an outspoken supporter of Palestinians and drew league discipline over his conduct. Commenters are praising Irving for standing behind Al-Shaair and his right to speak out.
Why now: Al-Shaair's pro-Palestinian stance and the league's fine have made his case a focal point in debates over athletes' political expression.
