Texas GOP warns of furries in schools
Original: Texas GOP warns of furries
The Texas Republican Party has issued a warning about furries, pushing claims that students identifying as furry characters are disrupting schools. Critics say there is no evidence for widespread 'litter boxes in classrooms' rumors, which have circulated in US school board politics for years. The statement is drawing mockery and pushback online, with many calling it a manufactured culture-war distraction from education and budget issues.
Why now: A major state party elevating an internet rumor about furries strikes people as absurd culture-war politics worth reacting to.
