A car owner, identified by commenters as Ethan, fired roughly 15 shots at a teenager attempting to steal his vehicle, with the teen reportedly begging for mercy beforehand. Discussion is rallying behind a self-defense framing: supporters argue the owner feared for his life and that the shooting would not have happened had the teen not attempted the theft. The exchange has sparked debate over how far property defense can go when a suspect is retreating or pleading.
Why now: The extreme use of lethal force against a teenager begging for mercy raises contested questions about self-defense limits.
