Ian Poulter joins LIV Golf, adding to exodus
Original: Ian Poulter, former Ryder Cup hero for Europe, joins LIV Golf exodus
Ian Poulter, one of Europe's most celebrated Ryder Cup players, has joined the growing group of golfers signing with LIV Golf. The move continues the drain of established stars to the Saudi-backed circuit and raises questions about whether Poulter, a lifelong Ryder Cup standout, can remain part of future European Ryder Cup plans.
Why now: The defection of a Ryder Cup icon deepens the split in professional golf and threatens his Ryder Cup eligibility.
