Original: Auto Polo (ca. 1912) by Bain News Service. Source: Library of Congress / Flickr: The Commons https:// pdimagearchive.org
A Bain News Service photograph from around 1912 showing auto polo is circulating again, shared via the Library of Congress public domain collections. The image captures cars chasing a ball on a stadium field, kicking up dust in a sport long since vanished. Viewers are drawn to its mix of Ford-era automobiles, crashes and early twentieth-century sporting spectacle.
Why now: The striking vintage image of a forgotten, dangerous motor sport is being shared from public domain archives.
