Fans of the classic German science fiction series Raumpatrouille Orion are recalling its famously improvised props. Among the strangest: robot costumes built with an ice cream scoop for one arm and obstetric forceps for the other. First broadcast in the 1960s, the show remains a cult favorite, and its low-budget ingenuity still amuses viewers decades later.
Why now: Nostalgia for the cult 1960s German sci-fi series and its legendary makeshift props is resurfacing in conversation.
