Queen Sofia makes surprise trip to Armenia

Original: armenia

Queen Sofia of Spain has travelled unexpectedly to Armenia for a three-day visit that was not announced in advance by the Spanish Royal Household, drawing attention in Spanish media. The country is also in the news for other reasons: India has voiced support for the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, and a green financing initiative in Armenia marked its 1,000th funded project during COP17.

Why now: The unannounced royal visit by Queen Sofia surprised Spanish media and royal watchers, while regional diplomatic news added to interest in Armenia.
