Physicists Peer Beneath Quantum Field and Find No Space or Time
Original: Physicists Looked Beneath the Quantum Field. Space and Time Were Gone
A claim circulating in physics commentary says that when researchers examined what lies beneath the quantum field, space and time disappeared from the underlying description of reality. The idea feeds into ongoing debates about whether spacetime is fundamental or emergent from something deeper. Commentators are discussing what this would mean for quantum gravity and the nature of the universe.
Why now: The suggestion that space and time may not be fundamental taps into current debates in quantum gravity research.
