Instant photo 'cheki' in the spotlight in Japan

Original: チェキ

Instant photos, known in Japan as 'cheki', are drawing attention after Fujifilm announced the new instax mini Evo 2 hybrid instant camera. Separately, singer Nakagawa Ruka apologised to fans holding cheki tickets and photo handover vouchers after cancelling a photobook event to continue medical treatment, with transfer arrangements offered.

Why now: A major new Fujifilm instant camera launch and a celebrity's cancelled cheki event both pushed the term into Japanese search trends.
