Ukraine is switching to standard time on the night of Saturday, October 24, into Sunday, October 25, with clocks set back one hour at 4:00 a.m. local time. The seasonal change gives Ukrainians an extra hour of sleep but darker evenings ahead, as the country reverts from summer time until the next switch in spring.
Why now: The clock change affects everyone in Ukraine and prompts annual reminders and debate over whether to keep daylight saving adjustments at all.
