Protests in Guéret despite gathering bans

Original: guéret

Hundreds of people took to the streets in towns of the Corrèze and Creuse area, including Guéret, Brive and Tulle, to demonstrate peacefully despite official bans. Organisers and participants said they marched to "make our rights as citizens count", a phrase echoing frustration over restrictions on the right to protest in France.

Why now: Fresh demonstrations defying bans in central France are drawing regional attention and discussion.
