Online censorship is crushing indie webcomics
Independent webcomic creators say they are being squeezed off major platforms as automated moderation and payment-processor rules flag adult and queer content, cutting off their main channels for distribution and income. A feature in Xtra explores how artists are losing visibility and revenue, and how some are turning to self-hosted sites and alternative funding to survive.
Why now: Creators and readers are reacting to growing platform moderation and payment rules that disproportionately hit small independent artists.
