Gamut Theatre stages Nicaraguan twist on The Tempest
Original: An Island Dream: Gamut Theatre’s adaptation of “The Tempest” takes on a Nicaraguan twist
Gamut Theatre has mounted a new adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest, reimagining the play's isolated island setting through a Nicaraguan lens. The production, described as an island dream, folds Nicaraguan culture and setting into the classic tale of shipwreck, magic and forgiveness. The adaptation offers audiences a fresh take on a familiar Shakespearean work.
Why now: The novelty of resetting a Shakespeare classic in a Nicaraguan context is drawing attention to the production.
