Flock cameras wrongly tracked driver over stolen plates
Original: La surveillance algorithmique, c'est bien de la merde https://www. thedrive.com/news/how-flock-ca meras-wrongly-tracked-
A driver recounted how Flock Safety's automatic license plate recognition cameras wrongly linked their plates to a stolen vehicle report, tracking their movements for days and repeatedly sending police after them. The account is fueling criticism of algorithmic surveillance networks, with commentators arguing that automated systems flag innocent people with little recourse and raising wider concerns over police reliance on such camera networks.
Why now: Criticism of algorithmic surveillance is resurfacing after a report of Flock cameras misidentifying an innocent driver and triggering repeated police stops.
