Nikon strips contest winner over suspected AI-generated photo
Original: Nikon photography contest winner loses title after scientists spot signs of AI
A winner of a Nikon photography contest has been stripped of the title after scientists identified signs that the image may have been generated with artificial intelligence rather than photographed. The case has reignited debate over how photo competitions can verify authenticity, and whether technical analysis can reliably distinguish real photographs from increasingly convincing AI images.
Why now: AI-generated images winning or being caught in photography contests is a hot-button issue about trust and verification in creative competitions
