Trump says Google's Pichai talked him out of renaming the Atlantic Ocean
Original: Trump says Google’s Pichai talked him out of renaming the Atlantic Ocean
Donald Trump claims Sundar Pichai, Google's chief executive, persuaded him not to rename the Atlantic Ocean. The remark, reportedly made by the US president, is drawing attention for its odd subject matter and for what it suggests about the White House's interest in geographic naming, following earlier moves to rebrand places and landmarks. No confirmation from Google has been reported.
Why now: The US president's claim that the Google CEO intervened over the ocean's name is unusual and unconfirmed, prompting discussion.
