Former BBC DJ Tim Westwood faces new court charges

Original: radio 1

Tim Westwood, the former Radio 1 DJ, has appeared in court charged with two further offences, adding to the legal troubles of one of Britain's best-known hip-hop presenters. In the Netherlands, Radio 1 was also in the news as broadcaster Laurien Vermulst commemorated Ellen Meliesie on air, with the station's schedule and news bulletins drawing attention among Dutch listeners.

Why now: Tim Westwood's new criminal charges are fresh developments in a high-profile case involving a well-known former BBC presenter.
