r/open source bans solo projects and LLM-generated work
Original: R/open source bans all solo projects and projects using LLMs
The r/open source community on Reddit has banned all solo projects and any projects built with large language models. The move, announced under the banner that contributors' tokens are no longer valuable, is drawing debate among developers about moderation, AI-generated code flooding open source spaces, and whether solo maintainers are being unfairly excluded.
Why now: Communities are grappling with a flood of AI-generated and low-effort submissions to open source forums.
