Pacific women lead climate work, COP31 urged to back them
Original: Pacific women are already doing the work. COP31 must back them
The Lowy Institute argues that Pacific women are already leading climate adaptation and resilience work in their communities, and that the COP31 climate summit must directly fund and support their efforts. The piece highlights how women across the Pacific region carry frontline responsibilities in responding to rising seas and extreme weather, yet remain underrepresented in formal climate negotiations and financing decisions.
Why now: Attention is turning to COP31 and who should receive climate funding and recognition ahead of the summit.
